LED Headlight Bulb FAQ

Straight answers on bulb sizes, CANbus, colour temperature, power ratings and OEM orders.

What is the difference between H4 and H7 LED bulbs?

H4 (also called 9003/HB2) is a dual-beam bulb: one bulb gives both low and high beam on a P43t base. H7 is a single-beam bulb on a PX26d base, so a car with H7 usually uses one H7 for low beam and another bulb for high beam. They are not interchangeable. Check the code printed on the original halogen bulb or in the owner's manual.

Do LED headlights need a CANbus decoder?

Not always. Many vehicles (common on European brands and some newer Asian and American models) monitor bulb current. Because an LED draws far less power than a halogen bulb, the car may show a 'bulb out' warning, or the light may flicker. A CANbus-compatible bulb or a separate decoder/anti-flicker harness fixes this. Tell us the vehicle make, model and year and we will confirm what is needed.

What is the MOQ for OEM or private-label LED bulbs?

For OEM orders with your brand and customised packaging, the minimum order quantity is 2,000 pairs, and models can be mixed. Standard terms are a 40% deposit, with the 60% balance paid after inspection and before loading. Ask on WhatsApp about smaller trial orders.

How do I choose the colour temperature?

6000K–6500K is a cool white that looks closest to daylight and is the most popular choice for headlights. 4300K is a warmer white similar to factory xenon. 3000K is yellow and cuts through fog, rain and dust better because it causes less glare and back-scatter. The XT80 App model switches between 3000K, 4300K and 6000K from a phone app.

Can one LED bulb model work on both 12 V cars and 24 V trucks?

Yes, for the BT, DT, XT, M, MINI and DX300 series. Their spec sheets list a 9–36 V input range, which covers 12 V passenger vehicles and 24 V trucks with the same part. The compact Q58 series has a narrower range (H4: DC 11–30 V; H7/H11: DC 12–16 V).

Why don't you publish huge lumen numbers?

The bulb market is full of inflated lumen claims. We only publish luminous flux where our spec sheet gives a per-bulb figure (for example, Q58 H7: 4,200 lm per bulb). For most other series, lumens and colour temperature are customizable on request to the buyer's requirements, so we quote them per order instead of printing a generic number. Real-world brightness also depends on the headlamp housing, chip position and beam pattern.

What does 'start power' and 'stable power' mean?

LED bulbs run at a higher power for the first few minutes ('start'). When the heatsink warms up, the driver lowers the power to a 'stable' level that the bulb can sustain. For example, the BT150 starts at 150 W and stabilises at 120 W per bulb. The 'per pair' wattage seen in many listings is simply two bulbs added together.

Which bulb sizes do you supply?

Most models are available in H1, H3, H7, H11, 880/881, 9005/9006 (HB3/HB4, one LED bulb fits both sockets) and 9012 (HIR2) single-beam bases, and in H4, H13 and 9007 dual-beam bases. The DX300 is the LED plug-and-play replacement for D1S, D2S, D3S, D4S, D5S and D8S HID bulbs. For other bases, ask on WhatsApp.

Do you send samples?

Yes. The sample fee is paid upfront and is refunded when you place your first order. Lead time for bulk orders depends on model, quantity and packaging: TBD: lead time.

What warranty do you offer?

All ShinVea products carry a warranty of at least 1 year.

Can lumens and colour temperature be customized?

Yes. For most series, lumens and colour temperature (for example 6000K, 4300K or 3000K) can be customized to the buyer's requirements. The logo printed on the bulb body can also be customized: custom logo printing on the bulb body to your requirements. Tell us your target market and use, and we confirm the options with your quote.

Can packaging be customised?

Yes. Packaging is fully customisable to your requirements: your logo, your own box design, or neutral packaging without any brand.

Do you support compliance requirements for my market?

Certification documents are available on request where applicable. Contact us with the compliance requirements for your market and we will confirm what we can provide.

Are LED retrofit headlight bulbs street-legal?

Rules differ by country. In some markets LED retrofit bulbs in halogen housings are approved for road use only for specific vehicles, and in others they are sold for off-road use. Importers should check local regulations and homologation requirements for their market.
